I met Beverly at the airport today, super nice person! Great video
Merci Houssaine Ait.
Dave Hurwitz, whom I don't always agree with, really rates George Lloyd as a composer, especially his symphonies. He has several reviews on his YT channel.
So traurig. Hab das Buch gelesen. Niemand interessiert das Schicksal solcher Menschen. Die Gesellschaft heute ist so arm😢
best burgers ever..halfbpounders with cheese mmmm
Love ❤
'This is the way the world ends - not with a bang but with a Wimpy' 😂 I was astonished to find one in Johannesburg central train station.
I've just found this story out, so thank you very much for the research and all informations, dear Diana. Sending love from Prague. ❤
A sky full of starlings... what a Poetic icon!
Lovely Poem and excellent video!
If people didn’t think the Soviet Union was cruel at the murder of the Tsar’s family by the Bolsheviks in 1918, then 32 years later, the treatment of these innocent babies should convince anyone that this regime was pure evil. Thank goodness it’s gone!!
Its a great idea having them back but they won't last because of their outrageous prices so it won't be long and they'll be gone
Beautiful. What is the music playing in the first part - from the beginning to about 1 min 10 secs?
Thank you for this film! We are playing the Lloyd 5th Symphony in July. Tickets are on sale if you would like to come!!
Would love to but currently launching my latest film thanks Diana
Mothers sorrow is a hollow pain
A beautifully produced and very moving film and story. Many comments here highlight the neglect of British composers and listening to Lloyd's work, it evidently deserves to be heard more often in the concert halls. Well done for making such a watchable, worthwhile work, beautifully paced and full of thought-provoking incidents and inspiring revelations. Lloyd and his wife certainly had an amazing journey together.
Thank you I hav ejust made a filmabout D.H.Lawrence in Cornwall and that has been another journey... Diana
@@taylor9ization and what are you working on now, dear Diana, who disappeared so suddenly!
Excellent! An informative film that gives a remarkably succinct and balanced-sounding account of the many changes in this country's fortunes and their consequences for the people. It is colourful, wide-ranging and sympathetic, and I like the non-judgmental narrative and calm voice-over.
LIKE BAX,ARNOLD,ALWYN AND SO MANY MORE GREAT BRITISH COMPOSERS IGNORED BY THE MUSIC ESTABLISHMENT.SHAME ON THEM AND THANK THE LORD FOR ALBANY RECORDS.ROBERT J. PARRY,NORFOLK,UK
Yeh, yeh, yeh !! Let's celebrate Wimpy !!
OK, own up - who else has watched this more than once just for GL's hilarious impression of RVW? (Seriously this is an outstanding documentary!)
My partner and I lived on a boat in the docks, c.1977-79, and we loved just using the public baths here!! Then we sailed on. RjB
The joys of communism.
Lovely combination of paintings with the beautifully (and perfectly read!) poem - bravo to all involved
One of my favourite countries in the world, I love Cuba 🇨🇺 ❤. Lovely people who do their best with what they have...
So cruel and heartbreaking
Beautifully done. George was a magnificent composer.
Unflinching. Beautifully crafted.

1951....at age 11 I was making these tank nets at 16 Parc Avenue. Straightforward really; you screwed a hook into the corner of the kitchen wall, hung the cord around it, grabbed the wooden bobbin and started weaving...it was repetitive and took hours to make. I got paid 10/-, 50p. which my mother snatched!...Ten shillings in 1951 was worth about £15 today.
the whole film is now on you tube Severn and Somme The Life of Ivor Gurney. the film was premiered in Bristol Cathedral January 2012. gurney's cousin attended the screening.

Wimpy pretty much invented the meat-free burger. The couple I had in 1980 tasted like a sponge soak in beef broth. Very nasty.
From the Odes, Epigrams, & Further Sonnets, by Richard Craven XL St Philip’s Marsh is Bristol’s Isle of Dogs, the draught too shallow though for proper ships, and more importantly it’s tidal. Fog’s a regular phenomenon. Mudslips banked-up, Dickensian, the Avon’s slime. Warehouses scatter among redbrick homes where entropy increases over time. Front garden with a pond and fishing gnomes, the fussiness which somehow reconciles with all the dereliction and the rust, the empty cider cans and clogging piles of matter: cloth, carcinogen, oil, dust. The lorries thunder past, on Feeder Road, naked berserkers covered in blue woad.
My God Pádraig ,I wish you were alive now to help us. Pray for us.
That was very good Brought back memories. Getting the Severn Beach train from Stapleton Road Station. The Blue Lagon Back in the 1950s
remember this as if it was yesterday ? First time I have ever heard that alcohol was in drivers blood ? Thought it was temporal lobe seizure ?
Corpses produce alcohol,he had not drunk any alcohol.
It was a seizure, just a bit of sensationalism!!
Name apparently inspired by the Popeye character, (who once tried to put a live duck through a meat grinder to satiate his appetite for burgers).
narrator's voice so calm 🌌

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. George Lloyd is one of my favourite composer's for brass band. I'll now have to get into his symphonic and operatic world of music too... 😊
I realize that this film is a few years old, but I'm watching it today in the UK, during the current Covid-19 Lockdown. I enjoyed the film very much and found it interested me to want to know more about Cuba. The only thing I could not understand was why the film started with, The Beach Boys music rather than the beautiful Cuban street music which even the film remarks attracts visitors to Cuba. Apart from that loved the film very much.
Messed up system, messed up ideas, living in contumacy.
A revolution was needed but not a communist one and worse of all the $ tyranny. To dictate Who cuba can trade with.
Another anniversary today
So the only decent buildings are built before the criminal revolution that made the poor even poorer.
